This policy explains what information the Regional Transportation Agency of Central Maryland (RTA) collects through this website and its apps, and how we use it.
State and federal law
This website and RTA’s mobile apps are governed by the laws of Maryland and the United States, and may not be used for any unlawful purpose.
Information we collect
We collect personal information only when you give it to us — for example when you sign up for email updates, apply for a job, answer a survey, send us a form, buy fares online or request paratransit service. Depending on what you are doing, this can include your name, contact details and address. Fare and pass orders also include payment and shipping details, and paratransit requests may include an emergency contact.
We share personal information with third parties only when the law requires it, or with a delivery service so that we can send you an order.
Text messages
If you opt in, we may use your phone number to send job-related messages, referral bonus offers and transit alerts about schedules, route changes and service disruptions. Message and data rates from your carrier may apply. We share your number only with our text message provider, and we send messages only to people who have opted in.
Children’s privacy
In line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, RTA does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
